Rodney’s statement - French Rally 03/04/15
Bonjour ! (en français)
My friends in France, I am grateful to you for all the incredible support you have given me. As you know, early last week the high court in Texas granted a stay of execution in my case. I am hopeful that this will allow me to show the court that I am innocent of this horrible crime. I know with your help, justice will live.
Like my country, France is a proud and strong democracy. And the people of this beautiful land clearly understand that a country’s leaders must be responsive to the will of its people. In that spirit, the people of France have organized this important demonstration to show not only their leaders, but leaders of all nations, that justice has been denied for far too long in my case. I am so happy we are getting the word out where you are !
Also, I recently spoke to a French television news correspondent/producer, Julie Martin, who visited me in Texas. We discussed my case at length for a news piece she is working on-which I understand will air in the coming months. I am delighted that she may air more information updating my case. Be on the lookout !
Friends, you don’t realize how much it means to me to know that, even as I sit in my cell and wait for the chance to prove my freedom, you all, more than 5,000 miles away and across the great Atlantic Ocean, will be fighting for me. Trust me when I say we are only divided by miles and waters-but not by spirit. I thank God for your work ; I look forward to hearing a report of the events in Paris and to ultimately join you one day as a free man !
Merci Beaucoup !!!! (en français)
